Is it really free?
Yes — free to use on any website, personal or commercial, with no API key, no sign-up and no usage limit. The only condition is that you keep the small "PublicHolidaysEU" credit line visible, which is how people find where the data came from.
Do I have to update it every year?
No. The widget reads live data, so it always shows the next upcoming public holidays. Once it is on your page it stays correct without you touching it again.
Does it track my visitors?
No. The widget sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts of any kind on your visitors.
Will it slow my page down?
It is a single iframe of roughly 2 KB with no JavaScript, and the embed code uses lazy loading so it only loads when scrolled into view.
Can I change how it looks?
You can choose the country and how many holidays to show, and the widget follows your visitor's light or dark mode automatically. Adjust the width and height in the iframe code to fit your layout.
Where the data comes from
Every date comes from official government publications and is verified against them — see our data sources. If you would rather give your readers a calendar they can subscribe to, there is also a free auto-updating holiday calendar for each country.
